Highlighted Stops
1. Hotel Sacher Café (Philharmoniker Straße)
The birthplace of the original Original Sacher-Torte created by Franz Sacher in 1832. Enjoy a dense, dark chocolate sponge cake layered with tangy tart apricot jam and encased in a glossy chocolate glaze, served alongside unsweetened Schlagobers (whipped cream).
2. Demel (K.u.K. Hofzuckerbäcker)
As the former purveyor to the Royal Imperial Court, Demel features an open glass pastry kitchen where master confectioners craft candied violet petals, delicate Dobostorte, and their famous rival version of the Sachertorte.
3. Café Central (Herrengasse)
Housed in a grand Venetian-Neoclassical palace, Café Central was once the intellectual salon for writers, thinkers, and artists. Pair a steaming cup of Wiener Melange with a warm, flaky slice of hand-stretched Apfelstrudel dusted with cinnamon sugar.
